The Frustration of Mahalo Editors

So there are all these wonderful people at Mahalo who are "here to help". Alright then, you get free lunch four times a week and maybe a gym.
BUT what you don't get is the reputation/name/recognition any blogger would get were you to devote the same time on writing on the same topics you're now linking to for Mahalo.
Take this C.K. Sample guy - who btw makes mistakes in his Gawker Media entries on Mahalo by failing to realize that there's new Gawker property Jezebel among the "Gawker Media Family Blogs" (so much for keeping entries up to date!!) - C.K. loved to be lead blogger for TUAW and all that he got out of it. As an editor for Mahalo he'll not be "conversing with the audience" any more.
Still, it may be alright for some to just play the gatekeeper for links, but with all the actors (more on Rupak's credibility here on the team not everyone who initially took the opportunity will be satisfied with that very role when they actually want to build some brand on top of their name. Blogging is way better suited for that, let alone acting.

More Mahalo

Thanks, Nicole Gustas, for checkin' in on our 1st Mahalo post.

- so, you got the "JFK" thing fixed - good, should've been obvious from day one.

- you redirect the search for "Paris hostels" to "Paris hotels" now, after we've complained. Still it ain't makin' much sense as we have to scroll down two thirds of the page to finally find what we wanted and the redirect might only leave us wondering whether we've ended up on the wrong page.

- AND "Paris hotels" vs. "Paris hostels" was only one issue where misspelling or lack of redirection was shown. Bet 50% or even more of your pages are prone to that sort of failure!

Evolving Thoughts on Mahalo

some impressions on Mahalo

- Jason wants us to search for "Paris hotels", if we mistype or put in "Paris hostels" we geht nothing, even though there is a paragraph on hostels under "Paris hotels" - where's the service value in that, dude?!!

- looking for information on the recent plans to attack jfk, we type in "JFK" which returns 0 - zero - results, we'd have to type in "JFK airport plot" - how lame!!!

- if we misspell a word there's NO result, no suggestion. This takes us by surprise because Jason himself makes typos all the time.

- he's never going to keep up with the flow of news. The top result for JFK airport plot is 3 - three ! - days old etc etc.....

[ed - this will be updated of followed by new entries!]
